a summer-y weekend to you

4th of July Creative Endeavor

I spotted these coin rolls a while back & purchased them thinking

they were quirky for other uses than just "rolling coins"

Wal-mart carries bags of each coin increment so you can choose the

colors you like best. I love the red 1 cent & blue 5 cent.

They are cheap, a dollar or two a bag for many rolls in each.

{Let's make a 4th of July garland}

I then used my cute cupcake liners purchased from

specialty online bake supply shops. These are

pink/cream & red/cream.

I found 1" grosgrain ribbon in my stash and tied a knot on

one end leaving an ample length to string my goodies.

I flattened out the cupcake liners, poked a hole in the middle and put three liners together:

red, pink, red liners

next, red coin roll,

then pink, red, pink liners

then strung a blue coin roll & so on.

Keep stringing until you have desired length.

I haven't finished a complete garland yet so I

decided Mrs. dress form needed a quirky collar.

Why not? She looks festive for any party this 4th.
The coin rolls almost look "fire cracker-ish"!

Seaside Confections Since 1885

Seaside confections have been uploaded for a little bit, just never posted on our blog. These have been a hit in the store! Yummy salt water taffy that promises "sea air and sunshine sealed in every box"! These will sure to be a memory maker in our tent at Country Living Fair!

The Butter Mint Rolls are a prize winner too! Melt in your mouth old fashioned-lots-of-butter-y-mint and your hooked! Vintage style pics on rectangle shaped boxes are sure to please.

Dreaming of the ocean today in the Midwest! May the thought of these summer-y tastes take you back to the boardwalks!

More goodies to add to website over the next week. We'll be restocking some of the dresdens and adding other "treats" that we've been working on in our back room. Also, waiting on our petite crepe ruffled trim as we are adding more colors! All the new pics I'm uploading you can now make bigger on our website, after you go to the product description & price page. We will be working on getting all of them done as we go along.

Oh, and just call Darcy Mary Poppins as she just snapped her fingers and the back room: it's o-r-g-a-n-i-z-e-d. I should show you pics of all the cute things she did.

Sweet Summer Berries...

Ooooohhh What a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day I've got a beautiful feeling.....

The parcal's keep coming and we keep gasping for breath, oh my, how do we get it all ready for presentation {the peeking stage} and stay sane at the same time? Welllll.......hummmm...

very good question. Sure is a good thing we really love our work, because otherwise I do believe our husbands would have us locked in padded rooms ! As been said, life is way to short to fret about the small stuff. {this, though is not small stuff... really serious business!}. Life is the berries, when we look on the bright side!

Sweet summer breezes bring in the sultry air that scream, muggy is the season. Summer fun has now begun. We have BIG ideas for all upcoming events...... which sometimes ideas and reality clash, but oh well, what fun would life be without big dreams. That's how business transpires, maybe a third of what we dream actually happens immediate, the other portion is all in the Lords perfect timing... Only HE knows what we can do and handle at one time. {Stayed on Thee, is where we need to be at all times}

Do continue to watch and PEEK as we will be uploading more new summer yummies as they are transformed in the "backroom". Saturday morning and I thought I would get a post in before you start grilling. Darcy has been at the shop the last two days and can't wait to see what she has done. She is like a merchandising crew except she is just one person. {She's amazing}

This past Tuesday I screamed when I saw my paper work pile. {ok, not really, but, I did panic} I wish we could just be creative instead of thinking of all the "duties" that go with shopkeeping. Since I had two days off I'm ready to get back into bringing ideas to fruition. I'll be ordering and ordering today. Can't wait to show you our finds.

Global Warming?

I see no signs of global warming this winter-
we're ready to be warm! "They" say we have not had this much snow in N. America since 1966!

Saltwater Sandals for Children

We are now carrying Saltwater sandals for children. They are classic and fit in perfectly with our "petite department store" feel. Can't wait to keep adding hard to find children's merchandise to our mix. We expect arrival this week, and will have a pre -season sale on the sandals.
