Farmhouse Style {in the kitchen}

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Faucet for indoors & outdoors.

French canning jars and they have a pretty font on them.
I want to organize my fridge with these. Easy for leftovers
& you can see what's in them.

This Farmhouse sink, installation is directly on the wall which I love.
{The drain board is a work of art!}

A commercial espresso machine.
{because our coffee maker is almost 15 years old!}
Our anniversary is coming up....we have one on our anniversary
gift "wish" list. {Cheers! Here's to another 15 years. I mean to "us" not
our old coffee maker! :)}

This heavy, quality made latte bowl is another practical thing I love.
Worth every penny & made in France.
Stack some up in your kitchen and they will be ready for your morning latte.
{Display worthy!}

*I love fresh whipped cream in my coffee. My mother made it and it's an easy way
to make your coffee/latte extra special.*
I found this particular recipe via Tracey at French Larkspur and it's a keeper!

 My favorite square pitcher, it's narrow so you can tuck it in tight spaces.
This should be on every bride's registry!

Another simple pitcher I found.

This jam and the jar is good to have on hand! I reuse the jar leaving the
 pretty label on for a votive holder.
No preservatives & no high fructose corn syrup and once you taste it, well.....it will be on
your grocery list! Yum!
I use it sometimes with goat cheese & crackers. The combo of the goat cheese & sweet, it's sometimes my lunch!

{now time to organize and clean out cupboards, it's January in Ohio!}
Have a lovely week!

Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint

Monday, January 9, 2012

On Christmas morning I was notified that I won a basketful of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, waxes & a brush {a very cute brush I might add!} from French Hen Farm via Di Lucca Designs. Thank you! Thank you!

I entered the contest knowing very little about this paint. I thought it was simply "chalkboard paint" in different colors. The paint is that, BUT after researching it and getting a friend's input, this paint is so much more. Where in the world was this paint in May of 2010? I was painting away and the latex stuff just peeled off. I tucked my paint brush away I was done with painting furniture.

Then I found Miss Mustard Seed, just a month or so ago. This particular post about Annie Sloan Chalk paint sold me and I have yet to open the can! If she can paint 5 pieces of furniture with this miracle paint, in two days--- I can at least paint one piece today! *NOTE: I PAINTED A PIECE TODAY & LOVE IT! Of course it's a petite little table and it's almost dry and I'm chompin' at the bit to sand it! :)

We went out to eat with our 3 kids Saturday night to a not-so-kid-friendly place. The restaurant, Amici's, was yummy, but recent press sent this wee little place into a zoo and the waitress had to serve all the tables by herself. "Whew", for us & "whew" for her!

Miss Vivi decided to go say" hello" to a patron and lo & behold, I knew her. She owns the shop Alley Cat Chic and mentioned to me she now carries the paint! Well, how convenient for us, we are close to Kettering, Ohio.

I might add that Annie Sloan has finished more of her website and all the new info is great. They have a page of all the stockists, and lots of areas in the U.S. are represented.

Have a happy week!

Cake Chatter

{Image source}

I love layer cakes with piles of frosting. Please give me a slice on a pretty china plate {or paper!} & it's the bee's knees. I'm not much of a cupcake person. {gasp}.....I dislike dealing with the wrapper. {what to do with it & how do you eat it?} I like to sit and enjoy each bite of cake and it's something about those layers. {with icing in between!} Don't get me wrong, I will never refuse a cupcake, ever. I even bake cupcakes for my kids and they look so sweet here & there. Nonetheless, a cake on a cake stand is my pick-y pick.

P.S. Thanks to those of you who called me after my last post!  & Amy if you're reading this,
congrats on your baby--I'm so happy for you! {I love your name for her!} xoxo
