Summer Fun

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Our wedding inspiration board we put together for Maggie.
We had a ball getting creative {it's been a loooong time} & using our supplies to come up with a "Michigan meets Ohio meets stripe-y straws meets humor meets burlap/linen----you get the picture "true love"!

This & that........
{Please someone buy us a real camera HINT}
Petite trifles for favors, toppings, packaging, you name it----we found it.
Maggie & Cort getting hitched 9/4/10
Last Friday headed to a quilting show,  I was more interested peeking at Vogue fabric's booth.

{They have locations in Chicago}
There was also a darling dealer there selling vintage buttons, all arranged by color. {swoon}

Worth paying for the admission was finding this brochure as we left, The Iron Horse. Forget eating at Ikea, it was so worth it!

We drove a few miles South to Glendale and found this "farm to table" restaurant. They make everything from scratch. Lunch prices were friendly and I was content to eat al fresco with my loved ones. I'm counting on heading back to this find.
Luke along for the ride........
My love affair with beets. {don't get me started} Baby arugula, goat cheese, red onions, golden & red beets with a scrumptious vinaigrette.
Jill's "box" finished in summer red colors. {whew, took me long enough to scratch that "to do" off my list} Sorry, my dear, you have such a procrastinator for a friend.
See that little price-y thing-y tied on the box? Those will be for sale sometime in the next century on our website. {I know, I know things keep coming up and keep me sidetracked}
I was a happy mom to purchase this vinyl coated fabric. Perfect for my kidlets and summer picnic tables.

There among the plants & pot section at Ikea I ran into Amy B. She is calm, cool & collected and there I am flapping my arms as I chat away. I was glad to see her mom again as well.

We're winding down towards the end of the week. This weekend hails celebratory festivities. Friday, Saturday & Sunday we'll join our comrades and munch, munch, munch.

P.S. Did you know they make a 100% beef frank with nooooo nitrates. Yes, folks they do. Amen.

Happy 4th of July!!

Going Nutty Around Here

Thursday, October 30, 2008

Red and white cotton twine and nut cachettes. Christmas is coming at McMaster & Storm!

Getting back in the groove again. Some serious Nesting for Kara as she focused on her home for the last week. {I needed a break and time away from blogging} Little over 3 months to go until baby arrives and much needed time organizing before our Christmas open house. Actually don't think the real "nesting" phase has set in yet but, felt really great to freshen up the house. The real pregnancy nesting phase has not set in because if that was the case I would've cleaned out my Tupperware cabinet but, instead I scream every time I open it and quickly close it. How in the world does one organize that stuff. I love it but, oh those lids its mass confusion for sure.

I promise that I will be uploading some more things. I've been poking on this. I will check on inventory as that needs updated. Plus we have restocked some things like our chocolates among other things.

Christmas open house dates have been decided and working on things for that event.
{That's the going nutty around here!}
Nov 13th 10-8
Nov 14th 1-8
Nov 15th 10-5
Our event coincides with our downtown christmas this year. There will be carriage rides, singers & the downtown churches will be open. Love this as we have beautiful old churches throughout our downtown.

We will close down that Mon - Wed to prepare. On Mondays following open house we'll be open from 10-5.

I will post our theme on a later post.

November 9th -11th event in Bexley, Ohio: Jeffrey Mansion

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

Contrary to previous post this "Shop Hop" event was to benefit:
The Shop Hop raises funds for scholarships for programs offered through Bexley Recreation to children from Bexley and surrounding neighborhoods.

Thanks to Victoria Zamensky & Karen Page for organizing this event, your efforts were well received. Bless you! We enjoyed our weekend at the Jeffrey Mansion. We will see you next year!

Here are pictures and some newsy news from this past weekend:

The gals behind Bloomsbury Loft:
Karla, Beth & Judith. A group of talented artists who run a darling shop. We want to
invite them down for an artist event next year. They make jewelry, hair accessories, etc.
made with new & vintage finds.

Take the path less traveled-- Stone steps at the Jeffrey Mansion

Tom owner of T. David Collection in German Village.
Dorothy of Tickled Pink & Todd.
(Todd is a twin & another set of siblings is twins, WOW, that's amazing!)
They kept us entertained over the weekend. Enjoyed getting to know creative people.

Package wrapped with a Christmas Curiosities ornament tucked on the outside.

White lights outside on beautiful hued trees

Outside view of back of Mansion

Edward Jekot of Christmas Curiosities. Amazing talent. We want him to come as well to our
store to present his line of Christmas wonders.

Anne Fletcher of Pistacia Vera, amazing Parisian Macaroons.
Lovely to have this in Ohio. My Mother spent a lot of time over there at the shop hop.
She said we'll just have their desserts for Thanksgiving & forget fixing a meal. Ha

Anne Fletcher, co-owner of Pistacia Vera.

McMaster & Storm is selling fresh Bay Leaf wreaths, and will be
reordering as they were a hit.

Beth, "the queen"

One morning we rose early to take pictures of the amazing older homes
in the Bexley, Ohio neighborhood.

This lady of the house was looking outside when we stopped
in front of her home. She made motion of a camera with her hands.
We laughed, she was smiling & waving. This was one of our favorites!!

Loved the shaped boxwoods & ornamental cabbage

Check out our store as we have new stock & it's full for summer. Dash & Albert rugs are in, they are 2x3 and are all "stripey" in fresh fun colors.

This week brings alot of "going ons" Darcy & I will shopping for found objects. Working on Trophy Co. & sewing a Nappy bag for Jeni Britton. Plus, we'll keep you posted on 2 photo shoots
