As a P.S. to my comment yesterday, since I skipped one of the requirements, her given name is Phoebe Ann Oakley Mozee. I should have read the rules before jumping the gun.

Annie's real name was Phoebe Ann Moses. My favorite fact about Annie is that she melted down many of her medals to put 20 women through school. :)

This is Annie Oakley, born Phoebe Ann Mosey. The poverty of her childhood led her to become the primary hunter for her family, which propelled her eventually to sharpshooting fame w/ Buffalo Bill. She is considered by some to be the first American female superstar.

Well that would be Annie Oakley, otherwise know as Little Miss Sure Shot in these areas of Ohio. Phoebe Ann Mosey was her given name by her parents. She was given the name Little Sure Shot by Chief Sitting Bull for her expert marksmanship in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.

Ooh I know! She is Phoebe Ann Moses also known as Annie Oakley. And one very interesting fact is that she and her husband Fancis "Frank" E. Butler traveled and performed in "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show" starting in 1885. She, along with her husband are buried in Brock Cemetary in Greenville, Ohio.

This would have to be Annie Oakley!
Her reasons for death have been linked to anemia, but more recently, lead poisoning (from handling too much ammunition).

(Hi--not sure if this is being posted in the right place? There are no other comments, which is tres weird!)

Anyway, she's Phoebe Ann Moses, aka Annie Oakley. She and her husband, Frank Butler, moved to Nutley, New Jersey, hometown of our contemporary hero, Martha Kostyra Stewart! Love your site and would love to come shop in the store in person!

Hello to you,
Please enter me in your contest. The photograph is of Annie Oakley, who was born Phoebe Anne Oakley Mozee. I read that she could hit a playing card with the thin edge toward her, and puncture a card five or six times while it fell to the ground. I like your blog and and your website offerings are amazing. Your products are considerate and thoughtful. I'll be putting the Italian Stapler on my Christmas Wish List. I have not decided on which color as of yet. Best wishes and many thanks to you. Kindly, Heidi

You girls make a person do some homework to enter a contest! That's great. Miss Annie Oakley was born the 6th of 8 children to a Quaker family who gave her the name Phobe Ann Mosey. (Sorry to send this as annonymous, but I can never, ever remember my Google password.) Thanks, Wendy in NC
