Lots of love to all of you today,

The thing that gets me motivated is Christmas time. It seems like when we bring gifts home...something else has to go!
ReplyDeleteDecorating magazines and lovely blogs about hearth and home!
ReplyDeleteHate to say it, but sometimes I am motivated by "What if someone else had to do this for me, if I weren't here? Yikes!"
ReplyDeleteMostly though, that tried and true selection of piles: pitch, donate, keep(only if I label/categorize/organize it)makes some tasks seem managable. And it does feel so good afterwards! Good luck!

After Christmas I am so sick and tired of all the "stuff" that I secretly throw everyone's things away:-) With spring on its way I want everything cleaned out and fresh...infact I just gave away three gargage bags of toys today..once I get started I have no mercy!!!
ReplyDeleteFun! Fun! Girlies
ReplyDeleteSome things that help motivate me to organize are:
Spring time-getting ready for a garage sale, looking at how usable and cute other people's space looks organized, and my dear husband at his wits end of my unorganized space/studio.
xoxo, beb
Every January issue of every magazine I've ever subscribed to....such adorable photos of organized living, which I tend to know very little about.
ReplyDeleteJust yesterday while trying to find some old scrapbook supplies I dug out 3 big tubs full of paperwork. I've GOT to get a system! Pick me!
What motivates me is a cluttered desk where I no longer can find what I need and am forced to move it or organize it. It doesn't happen that often, but when it does, it's such a great feeling to start anew.
ReplyDeleteI love listening to a favorite radio talk show, with my headphones on, blocking out the rest of the world and focusing on my project. The time flies by! Diane
ReplyDeleteI think the first hint of Spring that comes our way in Iowa inspires me to throw open the windows and get all the "stink" out. Then I look around after the house is all aired out and see the rest of what needs to go. The fresh air and sunshine gets me going here in the midwest where winter can last a long, long time. Brenda
ReplyDeleteIf I get really angry and need to blow off steam, cleaning is a great way for me to get a lot cleaned up and organized. I guess it is more productive than lashing out at someone!
ReplyDeleteThe first warmer sunny days after the first of the year always make me want to reorganize. Getting something new to decorate or organize with always makes me dig in too.

I love a sunny day, with a good breeze, when you can you open the windows and doors and the sun shines on everything. It always motivates me to get everything organized and shiny so it looks pretty in the sunlight!
ReplyDeleteKnowing that warm weather is around the corner gets me motivated. And right before my hubby comes home from a deployment too.
ReplyDeleteStarting on one little clean out project often snowballs into closets and entire rooms being weeded out and sent off to Goodwill or other places. Good luck! Start small and it will happen!
ReplyDeleteListening to good music always motivates me to clean and organize my home. Also, I feel extra motivated around Christmas as I anticipate where to put all the new things my girls will receive as gifts.
ReplyDeleteI find the one thing that helps me is when I have a desk that is soooo cluttered that I can't find anything. Then I am forced to do something about it. It's so much nicer starting fresh...it's very rewarding.
ReplyDeleteWhen to weather turns - the sun shines, the days start to seem longer and you long to open the windows and air out the house! Then I'm ready to clean and organize.
ReplyDeleteDon Aslett has written a series of books about cleaning and getting rid of clutter. Even though I have read it before, if I start reading Clutter's Last Stand, I don't even finish a couple of pages before I think of something I can get rid of and then I off in a cleaning/clearing frenzy! It happens every spring...

First and foremost, music. Volume turned up a bit, tempo upbeat and fun. Then, I always need a "reward", so I might often have something like a new pretty for my desk ready to put out once my cleaning is done. Or, even just a new candle I plan to light or a new room spray I plan to spritz in my newly-cleaned space. A trip to Starbucks to sit and sit a :cuppa joe" works every time, too! Sometimes the reward/incentive is bigger than these I mention, but often its fairly simple.
ReplyDeleteWe just hired someone to clean for us - with both of us working full-time, it just wasn't getting done. So oddly enough that motivated me to get rid of things and organize others - to make it easier for her to clean, AND to help KEEP it clean in between.
ReplyDeleteclutter and the joy of spring cleaning - there's a light at the end of the tunnel
